Treatment Instructions

Do not schedule important social activities, meetings, etc., immediately after your procedure.  It is best to schedule facial treatments at least 2 weeks prior to a major event such as a wedding or Birthday party.

If you exercise daily, do so before your treatment appointment, and avoid exercise for 24 hours after your treatment. 

Do not use or consume aspirin, alcohol, NSAIDs (ibuprofen, Naprosyn, etc.), vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, Omega 3’s,  and St. John’s Wort for 10 days prior to your scheduled treatment. 

If you have a history of herpes simplex (cold sores), and you are having your lips treated, prophylactic antiviral therapy is recommended.  We can prescribe an antiviral for you if necessary.

Avoid smoking, vaping, or nicotine products for 48 hours prior to treatment, and 7 days following your treatment.

Arrive with clean skin.

PRE TREATMENT:

• Begin taking Arnica or Bromine supplements 4 days before injections to minimize bruising and swelling.
• Avoid drinking alcohol, smoking, vaping, or using nicotine products for 48 hours prior to your treatment.
• If you exercise daily, do so preferably 24 hours prior to your treatment appointment.
• Reschedule your appointment if you have a rash, cold sore, or break out in the treatment area.
• Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a major event.

POST TREATMENT:

• You can apply sunscreen, makeup and skin care immediately after using gentle tapping.
• Avoid sweating, heavy lifting, vigorous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, and hot yoga for 48 hours after treatment.
• Resume retinoid-based products at least 24 hours post-treatment, as they can irritate the skin and potentially affect the healing process.
• Avoid direct sun exposure for at least a week after the procedure.
• Avoid nicotine (smoking, vaping, chewing, gum) to promote healthy healing.
• Avoid excessive alcohol intake to minimize the risk of bruising.
• Avoid undergoing facials, massages, laser treatments or micro-needling for at least 2 weeks.
• Sleep in a face-up, slightly elevated position to minimize risk of bruising.
• Apply a cool compress for 5 minutes per hour if swelling occurs.
• Neuromodulators results may take 3-7 days to appear and maximum results are seen in 2 weeks.
• If you experience severe or persistent pain, swelling, skin temperature changes, redness, skin
color changes, excessive bruising, or other unusual symptoms, contact the office.

PRE TREATMENT:

• Begin taking Arnica or Bromine supplements 1-4 days before injections to minimize bruising and swelling.
• Do not apply any makeup, lotions, sunscreen or any other cosmetics to the treatment area prior to arriving at our office on appointment day.
• Do not use exfoliants or undergo threading or waxing for 2 weeks prior to treatment.
• Avoid using irritating skin care products like retinoids and peels for at least a week before treatment to reduce skin sensitivity.
• Avoid drinking alcohol, smoking, vaping, or using nicotine products for 48 hours prior to your treatment.
• If you exercise daily, do so preferably 24 hours prior to your treatment appointment.
• Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks before the procedure.
• Reschedule your appointment if you have a rash, cold sore, or break out in the treatment area.
• Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a major event.

POST TREATMENT:

• Avoid strenuous exercises, saunas, and hot yoga for 48 hours after treatment or until redness is reduced.
• Avoid harsh topical products, retinoids, and alcohol-based toners for two weeks, as they can irritate the skin and potentially affect the healing process.
• Avoid drinking alcohol, smoking, vaping, or nicotine products for at least a week post-treatment to help the healing process and to maximize collagen production.
• Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks after the procedure.
• Resume applying sunscreen 24 hours after treatment. When outdoors, always use an umbrella, wide-brimmed hat or other available protection against sunlight.
• Apply a cool compress for 15 minutes per hour if swelling occurs.
• If you experience severe or persistent pain, swelling, redness, or other unusual symptoms, contact the office.
